Lingxiao Luo is a knitwear designer who was recently graduated from the Royal College of Art. Luo has multi-area experience in fashion design including womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. Influenced by the graphics and colours of Bauhaus movement and children’s toys, the designer has incorporated the key attributes within her design language.
Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them.
We all have been children before. Childhood is always one of the best periods of our life. It contains memories of happiness and joy, which is something that we’re still chasing during our adulthood, especially some desires that haven’t been realized. That’s probably the reason why we’re so attracted to the childlike things sometimes.
The same as me. I used to live in so many different cities because of my parents’ jobs, my health problem and my education. I had to give up many of my toys and clothes which were not that necessary for me every time before the move. The functionality has become the only evaluation standard. Even though I’ve grown up as an adult who can live independently, still, I try to keep my self-belongings as less as possible. Creating the functional toys for adults or making the functional things looks like toys, is the way that I would like to identify as a kind of rebuilding or extending childhood.
